En el present treball, es resumeix l'evolució plàstica i teòrica de Joaquín Torres-García i David Alfaro Siqueiros, per tal de reconstruir la trama de les relacions entre aquests dos artistes i delinear els punts de contacte i divergència en diferents moments de la seva reflexió estètica. La relació entre Torres-García i Siqueiros es construeix sens dubte sobre una base de respecte mutu, malgrat la distància entre les seves concepcions del fet artístic, que es radicalitza a mesura que es van estructurant més clarament les propostes estètiques d'ambdós, fins arribar a un clar enfrontament entre una concepció idealista i autonomista de l'art, i la proposta d'un art amb funció social i revolucionària

Il Selvaggio 1926-1942: Architectural Polemics and Invective Imagery

<p class="p1">Within the framework of a special collection dedicated to the study of image-word relations in the press and their impact upon the dissemination of architecture within the public realm, the story of 'Il Selvaggio', the magazine published from July 13, 1924, until five weeks before the fall of Mussolini in 1943, assumes a significant relevance. Since its inception, and increasingly from 1926, 'Il Selvaggio' hosts, alongside articles and polemic essays, a varied range of graphic materials in different genres and forms of artistic expression. This heterogeneous visual catalogue, an expression of the versatile and eclectic culture of its founder, the artist, writer and illustrator Mino Maccari, includes an equally varied ensemble of literary registers ranging from rhymes and aphorisms to brief polemic writings, ironic manipulation of proverbs, word plays and puns. <p class="p3">The interest of a study about the representations of architecture within 'Il Selvaggio' lies in the non-specialist nature of a periodical whose cultural stances were predominantly elaborated outside the professional circles of the architectural work and its well-known authors. This article examines the rhetorical strategies and linguistic devices of the magazine, where caricatures and landscape scenes, still lives and urban views, photographs and mottoes, are intertwined in a set of varying relationships. It also elucidates the historical context in which the contemporary architectural debate unfolds and which constitutes the constant reference for Maccari and his collaborators, providing the source materials for the journal’s polemics

Louis Hautecœur et la tradition classique

Cette publication est issue de l'exposition présentée dans la galerie Colbert (Paris IIe, 31 janvier-30 avril 2008). Elle avait pour projet de raconter une histoire de l’architecture (XVIe-XIXe siècle) qui, initiée dès les années 1920 par l’historien de l’art Louis Hautecœur (1884-1973), conduisit à la parution en sept tomes de la monumentale Histoire de l’architecture classique en France (1943-1957). Elle mettait aussi en évidence l’intérêt de Hautecœur pour l’architecture française de l’entre-deux-guerres, période pendant laquelle cet ouvrage majeur fut conçu. Dans cette perspective, elle essayait de montrer comment Hautecœur forgea une notion d’architecture classique sans borne temporelle – ce qui lui permettait d’aborder les débats sur la protection du patrimoine, sur l’architecture et l’urbanisme, et de relier ainsi le passé et le présent de l’architecture française. L’entreprise éditoriale menée par Hautecœur n’est pas la simple expression d’une érudition magistrale. Elle est aussi celle d’un savoir qui reflète la dimension culturelle de son temps. L’exposition, dont la date d’ouverture coïncida avec celle du colloque Le Livre et l’architecte (31 janvier-2 février 2008), fournissait l’occasion d’une réflexion sur le rôle des différents projets éditoriaux de Hautecœur et sur le rapport que le livre lui permettait d’instaurer entre histoire et actualité de l’architecture, entre culture patrimoniale et culture architecturale

Pure autonomic failure versus prodromal dysautonomia in Parkinson&#8217;s disease: Insights from the bedside

Autonomic failure may include orthostatic hypotension, supine hypertension, bowel and bladder disturbances, impaired thermal regulation, and sexual dysfunction, all of which can be features of Parkinson's disease (PD) and other a‐synucleinopathies. All patients with pure autonomic failure, most patients with multiple system atrophy, and 18% of patients with PD will develop symptomatic orthostatic hypotension. However, the extent of central and peripheral norepinephrine deficiency, parasympathetic nuclei degeneration, and arterial baroreflex failure may be differentially impaired in these disorders. Consequently, clinical features and prognostic implications of autonomic dysfunction in a‐synucleinopathies may be more complex than previously envisioned. The case described in this report highlights the clinical similarities between PD and pure autonomic failure, raising the question of whether pure autonomic failure represents a restricted Lewy body synucleinopathy or an early manifestation of PD
